Improving Digital Inclusion for Visually Impaired People Using AWS with Vision Ireland

Vision Ireland, formerly known as the National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI), embarked on a mission to enhance digital inclusion and accessibility for individuals with visual impairments. With support from Rethink Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic, Vision Ireland leveraged Amazon Web Services (AWS) and collaborated with Cation Consulting to develop an innovative Alexa skill called myNCBI Smart Hub. This voice-controlled app provides valuable resources and services to visually impaired individuals in Ireland, ranging from accessing information about their condition to practical support for daily living.
